Aneirin watched as the pretty young stranger who had fallen so suddenly into his life cautiously nudged at the herbs with her nose. Evidently deciding it was worth a try, she got a good bit of it down, though gagging very slightly on the way.
"Delicious," she muttered. He snorted, smiling. "You're a terrible liar."
His eyes briefly caught the body of the snake as she asked him if he wanted to go back to his pack to check on Annie, and it reminded him that he very much did. He hated the death of any creature, but the ominous, exotic, deeply foreign curl of that striped and blood-spattered body on the ground seemed to stand for everything that was NOT home--danger, poison, the muggy climate, midges and dark water. It made him long for his den, tucked away in the Enchanted hills, a hidden, sacred, restful place. Snow might be starting to fall there now.
He looked at Artemis, and she seemed part and parcel of the image in his head. She seemed to stand out strangely in this landscape, a brilliant shape of white in the browns and greens and tans. The idea insinuated itself in his head into a plan, and he was about to hesitantly suggest it when she spoke again--
"May I at least join you until you reach your home lands? I do not want to intrude on anyone. Nor do I know what your alpha would think of my being there."
He chuckled lightly, and gave a very broad grin.
"You took the words right out of my mouth, actually. I was hoping you'd come along." Suddenly feeling slightly self-conscious, he added: "After all, you've just been bitten by a snake. You wouldn't have gotten into this situation at all if it wasn't for me. I couldn't live with myself if I simply left you to fend for yourself."
Recalling her comportment with the snake, and the swift way she'd dispatched it, he thought she would be pretty able to fend for herself, but he still preferred to stay with her until he was confident she was recovered.
"As for Valentino, the alpha, I don't think he would mind. He's strong-willed, but a kind, open-hearted soul. I think he's learned how to read wolves in his time as a leader, and if he sees the good in you--which he will--he will welcome you."
Artemis's answer to his question about her origins was curiously vague, and he tilted his head to one side, intrigued and a bit mystified. The idea of wandering wasn't strange to him--he had done it for quite a long time, himself, before finding a pack that embraced and valued his skills and his lack of aggression--but there seemed to be a mist hanging about her past.
All hesitation was banished next, though, when she smiled and pressed her head against his chest, saying, in a soft, lacy voice: "Thank you Aneirin..."
He felt a deep warmth spreading from the point where her delicate face touched his broad chest, rushing up to his face, which had a rather stupid-looking smile on it. Aneirin blinked, then lowered his head slightly, not quite nuzzling, but touching his muzzle to the top of her head. "Not at all, Artemis, not at all," he responded, words slightly muffled by her fur.

The lump in her throat she was finally able to swallow. That thing he had her eat was not something she had high on her lists of favorites. Why could there not be some sort of meat that could help with snake bites? That she would have been able to swallow a lot easier. A small almost inaudible sigh escaped her icy maw. Guess you cannot get everything that you ask for. Oh well. At least there was something that she was able to eat to help deal with her injury. Not to mention, she had managed to keep this male around her a little while longer. It still surprised her that he had not run off to save his own skin like so many others would have done in the same situation.
Her eyes peered up at the male in front of her. There was a glint of a smile in her blue pools. "I never claimed to be a good liar. But you are correct... That was not the best tasting thing I have ever had the... privilege of ingesting," she said with a small wink and laugh.
Her soft tail seemingly wagged out of her control when he said that she could come along with him. It had been many seasons since the last time she had ventured on to claimed lands. She made a mental note to stick close to him just in case there were those that did not want her there. Yes, she could handle herself but she did not want to start things with a pack that she knew little about. Also, she did not want to lose out on the chance of getting to know this wonderful man better. She dipped her maw towards him. "Thank you. I look forward to going with you to your home. I especially look forward to meeting this pup that I nearly died for," she added with a genuine smile.
She stood up next to her new ally. Her shoulder brushed up against his body as she gained her balance. A shiver danced down her spin as her eyes quickly dropped to the ground. Blood rushed to her face in embarrassment. "Sorry about that. It seems my legs have yet to completely figure themselves out," she stated in a soft voice. After a moment of lingering against him, she pulled herself off his frame. She could stand on her own. Though in the back of her mind, she would prefer to still be touching him. He just felt so warm.
What was this? Why was she feeling this way? Never before had she started to fall for a brute like this. She felt like a pup again completely lost in her thoughts about the whole situation. This was new to her. Hopefully, he did not think of her as strange or just some femme that was out to get him. She was interested in getting to know him and this pup that he was helping. It made her heart melt that he was willing to put himself out there for a child that was not even his own.
She tore her eyes off the ground and looked back up into his gentle gaze. "Shall we get going then? I am sure you are missed back in your pack lands and I feel well enough to travel... Thanks to you," she finished with a soft smile.
Speeeeech!

((OOC: Woohoo! So, do you want to go ahead and start a new thread for them? I was thinking in Enchanted. We can write in the traveling sections, and then by the end of the thread they'll be in Enchanted, and we won't have to move it again.))
