“Actually, yes, yes I would have.” I said with a straight face, acting perfectly serious until I bust out in a great round of laughter. At once I was brought out of my sombe mood and replaced by one that suited me better. And it was this was one of the many reasons that I chose company with Ineluki; he was so much like me in his way of thinking and in his vulgar attitude, how could I not strike up a friendship at once? My eyes smarted from the laughter, but my guffaws died down again enough for a proper conversation. I needed that.
‘It seems you're not the only one with a taste for Order lays.’
My brow quirked, my interest instantly spiking. “Oh, is that so?” I asked, though I wondered vaguely who exactly it was. I swear, if Twilight had gotten a hold of him too—she’d already fucked Alejandro—I wasn’t sure what I’d do. But then again, why should I care? She wasn’t mine.
‘I may have left some signs for any wolf on that side of the mountains with enough brains and curiosity to find. And I may have been lucky in that the only one to pick up the other end was a petite lady who doesn't mind being bitten more than occasionally.’
My brow quirked again, but in more amusement then anything else. Sounds like Ineluki had really scored here; apparently he thought so too, because that twisted grin rearranged his features once more. My own grin appeared, my mind fleetingly imagining the scene he had created, and I couldn’t help but briefly allow my mind to run away with it.
‘The affair may have run its...’
I hadn’t really been paying attention to these last words anyway, and he seemed to realize the change in air as well, because he trailed away at once. Our body shifted together, legs bending to bring us closer to the ground and our demeanor clearly changing into a hunting style. All of this was instinctive; I hardly had to think about what I was doing, it was just automatic. Muscle memory and all. I followed his lead, my nose working as it gripped the scent of the herd. He peered around the edge of the rock, and, unable to not see for myself, I shifted so that I peeked around him. Taking in the scene, I slowly edged back so as not to give away our cover. I felt the anticipation flow through my body, and I scraped the rocky ground impatiently, ready to launch down the mountainside and take down our prey.
My dark friend twisted around and our eyes met, an understanding passing between us without us having to say one word to the other. This should be easy enough; there seemed to be plenty of weaker prey to choose from, and between the two of us…Psh, it should be a piece of cake. I gave a small nod to indicate I was ready to follow through with this. I was already formulating tactics in my head, but the best way was to just watch Ineluki’s body language, because things were always liable to change.
