Understanding Your Rank The Royalty Rey-- Rey means 'King' in Spanish, so this position is the Alpha, in other words. He has the final say when it comes to the decision making, though he often takes any advice from his Second and Third wolves. Often times, he has many different roles, some as a father, lover, ambassador, and obviously, a leader. He must be able to juggle priorities very well. Reina-- Reina means 'Queen' in Spanish, so she is the Alphess. She's always the Rey's mate unless there are certain extreme conditions that call for otherwise. She is dominant over all the females within the pack, though that's not to say that she's not respected by the males, either. She plays an important role by the Rey's side, and she also has to juggle being a mother as well. Príncipe-- The 'Prince' this one is, and nearly always the Alpha pair's pup(s). The oldest is heir to the throne, though there may be challenges to see who is most fit for it. If the Alpha pair is unable to produce offspring, then sometimes they will take in a pup as their own, one fit for the throne in the future. Princesa-- The 'Princess' of the pack, daughter(s) of the Alpha pair. They aren't usually heirs to the throne unless there are no sons of the Alpha pair. In this case, the oldest or most capable would take a mate of her own as she became the Reina. As stated above, an Alpha pair may take in another pup for their Princesa. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The Second Beta Male-- Usually the Rey's right hand wolf, though there may be some cases where they are close with the Reina as well. He plays an important role in aiding the Rey with his duties, and he is dominant over all the males except the one he reports to, the Rey. He often takes a mate who then becomes the Beta Female, but there are cases in which his mate is in the lesser rankings. Beta Female-- She plays the very same roles as the Beta Male, though her loyalties are more aligned with the Reina. She's dominant over all females except for the one she reports to. Beta Pups-- They are the offspring of either Beta wolf, whether they are together or not. The eldest usually has a high shot of replacing their parent's pawsteps. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The Third Delta Male-- He reports mainly to the Beta Male, doing the duties issued out by him. He also tends to be the main connection between the higher rankings above him and the lower wolves. He keeps his eyes and ears open for what's going on within the pack. Delta Female-- Very much the same as the Delta Male, though she reports mainly to the Beta Female. She does not have to be 'with' the Delta Male, though that is often typical. Delta Pups-- The offspring of either Delta member, with the eldest being first in line for their parent's position. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The Working Curador-- This is the Healer of the Pack, and there is usually only one of them. He or she has a high knowledge of herbs and poultices needed to treat the sick or wounded. Whatever it is, if you're not feeling well, come find the Pack Healer. El plomo cador-- The Lead Hunter must consist of both grace and knowledge of the hunt. He or she is in command over the entire hunting party, and reports the finds to the Deltas and up. Los cazadores-- These are the Hunters, the ones with the responsibilites of feeding the entire pack. They search out whatever they can find, and must be able to cooperate with one another in order to function. They report to the Lead Hunter. De la Patrulla Fronteriza-- The Border Patrol have the duty of securing the boundary lines of the pack. They are the first to spot a threat and the first to take care of it. These wolves often work directly with the Guardiáns to ensure the safety of the pack. Guardiáns-- These are the wolves who are basically the fighters. During wartime, they often travel beyond the borderlines to eliminate threats. They work directly with the Border Patrol, and these wolves are seen either with them or guarding the Camp. Niñeras-- They work with the Mothers, tending to and rearing the young. They are the ones who watch the newborns while the mothers stretch their legs after birthing, and when those puppies get older, they help teach them valuable lessons of life. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The Respected Madres-- She-wolves who carry and then birth offspring are the Mothers of the Pack. They are in the respected section because it is because of them that the pack is able to live on. Until the youngsters recieve ranks of their own, the she-wolves hold this position. Afterwards, they go back to whatever they were before conception. Ancianos-- Once 'retirement' rolls around, wolves drop their working duties and become Elders. Throughout the many years that they have lived, they have abundant experience, so what they say is often listened too. They also act as storytellers for the young ones. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The New Generation Los aprendices-- Wolves who are old enough to start their working career become Apprentices. They are assigned to a mentor and they learn the field of work that their mentor is in. Until they gain enough knowledge to work independently, they will stay an Apprentice. Juventud-- From the time they are born to around a year, these are known as the Youth. They are cared for by their Mothers and the Niñeras. ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ The Looked Down Upon El más bajo-- The lowest of all ranking within the Pack is the Omega. Either this wolf has been intentionally shoved to this disgraceful position or he or she naturally has this timid nature. This fellow often takes on the anger of the other members, and is the scavenger after meals, but when push comes to shove, he or she will be protected just as well. Presos y presas-- The Prisoners, these are. Prisoners are only present during wartime, when information is needed from them for the Renegade cause. They get treated much as the Omega does, but this is worse because they're not even a part of the pack. El Desterrado-- The Exiled. You don't ever want to be here, because if you ever set foot back within these borders, you will be killed without further hesitation. That much is promised.
