[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000] The flow of water filled the fresh, crisp, clean air air as Kenosha Creek flowed steadily and readily onward towards its next destination. I lapped up some of its cool liquid, soothing my parched throat which I had gained as I started exploring my new pack's lands. A few needles from the low-hanging pines flowed down my throat along with the water, but I hardly noticed since the water hinted of the trees themselves. It wasn't revolting, however, and was a nice change from the mud-tasting water I had been used to as a pup in my birth pack's territory. The water wasn't bad per say, but it definitely picked up a lot of sediment as it went on its way towards the ocean.
Having gotten my fill, I sat back at the base of the trunk of a tree, sighing as I looked around at the trees, trying to take in all that this place offered. Pine, fir, spruce, aspen, birch, and others I couldn't mention were all present, and each portion of the forest seemed to have a different proportion of these. In one area I could see a group of birches with a few spruce and fir here and there, while in another it was aspen with a few pine and fir mixed in. It was amazing to me how much variety there was, and knew that this was a great land for game and hunting, and thus for myself. I could already here the sounds of the wildlife around me shifting nervously due to my presence with my trained and honed ears.
I just waited there, feeling the cool dirt beneath my paws as some of the braver of my soon to be prey started to come closer once more. Rule number one about being a hunter was to be patient and let the prey come to you rather than you go to the prey. This way you'd be getting back more energy than you invested, and would be more likely to have that energy left over to catch some of the trickier prey. He could hear a rabbit in the bush beside him now, hardly making a sound as it prepared to spring at any sudden movement from me. I wouldn't go after it, a rabbit was hardly enough for a pack and I was waiting for the deer to come close enough for a good chase.
I closed my eyes and just took in everything around me, every scent, every sound, every feeling, knowing that it'd be a long time before any life showed itself. I wanted to eat but it was the duty of the alpha to eat, then it'd go down in succession until it finally reached myself somewhere in the middle. I didn't know exactly how this pack worked, but hunters were rarely in the bottom of the pack since they were the ones providing the food for everyone else. Any pack which disrespected their hunters would be sentenced to a quick death as per a general rule which dominated all packs. If this pack held up to its namesake, then it would be at least giving him their thanks for the food, if not a better opportunity to get some of the delicious meat.

As I walked through my new pack land I wasn't sure what there was here for me. This was all so new, and I wasn't sure if I liked that. As each paw hit the earth I noticed that my body was following a males scent. It was also from the pack lands I could tell. I could see the built of a wolf in the distance, and I rushed forward in an effort to meet someone new in this new place. "Helooo" I called out to the fello pack member. I slowed my speed as I got closer to him I wasn't sure what to say next, I sat in front of him, and tilted my head to one side. But then I took the time to notice the changing weather, fall was soon to come to a close and winter would be here. He looked like a hunter, at least his built was such of a hunter. So he in the winter would be getting the food for the pack. So he was important, someone that I should be meeting. "I'm Lilue.... Who are you?" I felt bad for not knowing what else to say in this situation. I smiled, hoping that I came off friendly. [/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000] I was concentrating completely on the prey around me, I wasn't wanting to notice anything else but them since a distraction could mean a loss of opportunity. It was the jobs of other wolves to keep this land safe and anyone unfriendly to the pack out, so I didn't have to worry about my own safety. Any wolf that came upon me would hopefully realize what I was doing and hopefully leave me alone, at least if they wanted to eat sooner or later. I didn't want to be shown up by other hunters, I was pretty sure that the others weren't bred for hunting like I was, nor would they see it like me. I would become lead hunter one day, though the idea of commanding others did not appeal to me the status in the pack did.
However, the animals startled suddenly, breaking my concentration as my head snapped back to see a dark gray and white wolfess running toward me, calling out to me. Already, I could hear the prey scattering into different points into the forest, causing me to let out a low, annoyed growl, hopefully too low for her to hear. I didn't want to be rude, but at the same time she had interrupted me while I was hunting and I couldn't help but feel that was rude of her. I brushed it off, however, for I knew many just wouldn't ever understand how much work the hunters actually put in, at least the good, dedicated ones like myself. I couldn't wipe the seriousness from my face, but I would listen to her just the same, though whether I'd enjoy our talk was another matter.
Her scent drifted toward my nostrils as she sat down in front of me, telling me she was new to this pack, which in turn meant she had yet to prove herself. In addition, she sounded rather young, or at least young minded as she asked me his name, for not many that I'd consider adult would run up to someone like she did just to say hello. Her tilting her head did seem rather cute, I thought, but I brushed this out of his mind as well since this would only add distractions when I was hunting. She seemed to be looking me over, making me rather embarrassed since I wasn't good with social interactions, but I tried not to show it. My annoyance was still very much there, as well as emerging impatience, but I tried to hide these as well, I didn't want her to think bad about me.
"I'm Lilue.... Who are you?"
Lilue, such a nice name, it seemed to roll of my mental tongue as I said it in my mind, distracted for a moment from my musings. However, this was short, I had hunting I'd have to get back to, so I'd probably want to make this meeting quick. "Valerius Aquilinus is my name, pack hunter. You realize you interrupted my hunting, don't you?" What was I doing, I need to get this over with not prolong it, and what I had said was definitely a conversation starter, unless she just backed away. It sounded very rude after I had said it, but I didn't mean to make ti sound rude, and I hoped I didn't come off too bad that way. I just looked down to the ground as I waited for her answer, gulping and mentally punishing myself for not being better at speaking.
