After a few days of traveling through this forest, or any forest, for that matter, all the trees looked exactly the same. Just the same monotonous pattern of wooden giants that seem to repeat themselves every few hundred yards. So when you travel for too long, you go into autopilot, or at least that's my experience. I suppose that's what happened while me and my brother were traveling, because I didn't even notice the tree in my path....
Well damn, that stings.
Goddamn trees. Too many of em here. Why the hell does there need to be so many damn trees all over this place? I swatted a tree near by, a dozen pieces of bark sent flying from the impact. I grumbled a million curses while I got my bearings, but soon realized that the reason everything was so confusing was because the damn trees looked exactly alike, on all sides. Walking slowly to keep my head from popping off from pain, I grumbled to my brother, "Too many goddamn trees.... do we even have any idea where the hell we are?" I didn't get an answer quickly, and that just fueled my growing anger. And only one thing helps my temper. I shifted my weight back on my back legs, ears folding back. "I'm going to scout ahead, I'll see you in a bit." I knew what he was going to do, sternly attempt to talk me down off my horse. Not this time big brother. Sorry.
I took off, dashing through the forest. My paws hit the dirt and yet left little trace; I was moving far too fast now. Trees blurred together into a single color. I dodged around trees, refusing to pull another skull breaker. I could feel my energy both surging through my veins and depleting. I couldn't keep it up forever, so I slowed to a mere bounce, hopping from rock to rock, shorter and shorter distances until I ran out of momentum. I stopped in a small clearing, and I looked around for a bit. Just another set of the same trees. I sat and grumbled in place, until the brushes moved. I fell into a defensive position, ready to sprint away or towards anything or anyone. I muttered a warning, in case it was Mahkahl messing with me. "Brother, if that's you, you better show yourself, unless you like the taste of my foot." I sat in wait of the reaction, and prepared for a fight.
